About Us ~ Dog Parks Denver ~ Denver Dog Parks

At the age of forty-one, I got my first dog, Kinsey, a crazy Rottweiller-Sheperd mix.

She came from the MaxFund when she was a year old, after having spent the previous three months in a cage, waiting for an owner. Kinsey didn’t walk anywhere she could run, and she didn’t run anywhere she could leap, and, unfortunately, these traits were often on display inside the house.

Every day, I walked her on leash in Cheesman Park, Congress Park, or City Park, all of which were within an easy distance from my house. But after Kinsey snarfed down a piece of pizza on Colfax and jumped on an elderly lady who was forgiving enough to call her “spirited,” I knew this dog needed to run free…in a safe space without food remnants.

The only legal place for dogs to frolic off leash, within the city limits of Denver, outside of a private yard? At a Denver dog park, six of which have been provided, free of charge, to the citizens of Denver and anyone else who cares to use them.

The best benefit of a good dog park? It can make a crazy dog sane. Or, as it did in our case, it can move “the zips” from a living room to the great outdoors!

I hope you enjoy the dog parks in Denver as much as Kinsey and I have!
