Denver Dog Park Rules

Following are the rules for the dog parks in Denver that are run by Denver Parks and Recreation department:

•You must pick up after your dog. That’s rule #1, #2, #3, #4, and #5. Don’t leave dog poop sitting on the ground in a dog park if it came from your dog’s rearend. Don’t pretend you don’t see it, and don’t delude yourself that it will magically disappear if you look the other way. All dog parks in Denver have stations with poop bags. Help yourself, and you’ll help keep the dog park clean, healthy, and sanitary for both humans and canines.

•You must assume responsibility for your dog, and your dog has to be supervised and under your control at all times.

•Denver dog parks are open from sunrise to sunset, every day of the week, year-round.

•No food is allowed in Denver dog parks, with the exception of dog treats.

•Dogs in Denver dog parks have to be accompanied by someone who is 18 years or older. Children who are younger than 12 aren’t allowed in Denver dog parks at all, and children ages 12-17 have to be with an adult.

•Female dogs in heat aren’t allowed in Denver dog parks.

•Dogs who are sick aren’t allowed in Denver dog parks.

•Aggressive dogs aren’t allowed in Denver dog parks.

•Pit bulls aren’t allowed in Denver dog parks (or anywhere in the city or county of Denver, by law).

•To use Denver dog parks, dogs must be neutered or spayed, or have a Denver intact permit (this applies to residents of Denver only).

•All dogs must have active licenses, which are good for a year. This applies to Denver County residents (who must have dog licenses, whether the dogs use a dog park or not) and to out of county residents who visit a Denver dog park.

•All dogs must be current on their vaccinations.

•When entering and exiting any of the Denver dog parks, you must obey Denver’s leash law, which requires that all dogs are on a leash and under the owner’s control at all times.

In addition to Denver’s dog park rules, it’s also a good idea to follow standard dog park etiquette.

In case of dog bites, attacks, or violations, call Denver Animal Control, (303) 698-0076, or call Denver Police, 911.
